I was looking for an external HD dock that would support 3TB hard drives and have USB 3.0. My previous experience with HD enclosure and 3TB HD was not a good one. But probably more my fault for not researching enough first. This time I researched and found that this Startech product would indeed support 3TB HD. I was not disappointed!Received the product just fine. Plugged it into my file server (Windows Server 2008 R2 64bit).I did not need to load a driver either, the unit was recognized right away. I plugged it into my on board MB USB 3.0 port with the included cable.I used Western Digital Green 3TB HD. You will get about 2.7TB useable space after formatting in Windows and I knew this already. After that file copying worked just fine and was fast with USB 3.0.The only small problem I encountered is the unit would 'go to sleep' or hibernate mode from time to time. Sometimes in the middle of copying files. I had to cycle the power on it for it to come back alive. I did not really find a firmware update on StarTech website either. This may also be caused by the power management on the USB ports within Windows? I set that to 'disabled' and will be doing further testing.Overall I am pleased with this product.
