We came home from vacation. It had not rained for a week and every day was over 100 degrees. Out kitchen was filled with ants. (I later learned that they come in looking for water during a drought). We cleaned out every cabinet and sprayed with bug spray until we couldn't see any.THEN... I decided to do some research, and learned that all I did was chase them somewhere else. Unless you get to the queen in the nest, they will be back (or they will go somewhere else you don't want).The reviews for Terro PCO were fantastic, but they didn't have them at Lowes or Home Depot, so we bought Hot Shot Mini Ultra Liquid Ant Bait instead. I found some places outside and in my garage where there were trails of ants. I placed 4 Hot Shot baits in their trails. The ants mostly ignored 3 of the 4 baits. 1 of the 4 (in the garage) did attract a lot of ants, and sure enough, 2 days later there were almost no ants in my garage.I ordered the Terro 6-pack from Amazon to use against future ant infestations.They came yesterday, and today I found 2 places where I saw some ants outside. I placed one and 15 minutes later, no ants. But an hour later, there was a long trail of ants coming across my driveway and were eating it up like guys at a frat party drinking beer.I placed the second one in our front garden, where I saw some ants. Half an hour later it was so filled with ants it looked black. They were streaming from 2 different directions. This thing REALLY attracts the ants.I will report back in a few days to let you know what happens next. So far, I am REALLY impressed.Update: one day laterAfter only 24 hours - I do not see any ants at either site. Is the queen dead in the nest? I have no idea. If they reappear, I will post again. I have to tell you, this stuff is amazing. It attracts them like crazy, and then the active ingredient (good old fashioned borax) kills them. There are dozens of dead ants inside the bait container, but there were hundreds (probably thousands) coming and going in the short time I watched them.Update: 2 days later2 days later, my baits were still outside and 1 got knocked over, spilling the goo. Ants began coming again, so I put out 2 additional baits. Sure enough, there is another trail of ants coming and eating it up.Is this from the same nest or another one? I don't know. Did the Queen die? I don't know. I ordered the 16 ounce liquid verion of Terro PCO so that I can keep refilling these baits over and over again.All I know is that ants LOVE this stuff. And I know that Borax (the active ingredient) is supposed to kill them slowly, so that they should make it back to the nest. I supposed you could mix Borax powder with corn syrup and make your own, but why? This is easy and it works. I will update again later.Update 1 month later:Turns out, these things are so tasty to ants that I had trails of ants from the neighbors' yards coming to eat. I decided I only want to kill MY ants, rather than attract more ants from the neighborhood. So I bought concentrated bug poison and mixed it in my pump sprayer and sprayed the perimeter of my property and the perimeter of my house. I keep re-filling the bait trays whenever I see new ants (just rinse out the old ones, and refill with the 16 ounce Terro PCO liquid - same ingredient, which seems to be corn syrup and 5% Boric Acid). For a couple days there is a trail of ants, then they are gone. Apparently there are lots of ants around here in SC. I assume I am getting ants from different hills each time, but I cannot be sure. These are small black ants, with no odor, so they are probably sugar ants or pavement ants. One month later, still zero ants INSIDE the house, which is my ultimate goal. By the way, the baits also attract small snails. When the snails die, the ants like to eat them too.To the reviewers worried about spilled "poison" - it is just sugar and borax. We could probably drink the entire contents of a bait tray and not be harmed. (But don't!)Effective in killing ants. Price is quite a bit higher than a different brand but very similar I purchased a few years ago.They work but you got to use a lot of them cuz you want to ask to keep coming back they fill up with dead ants you have to put another one downEvery. Single. Spring/Summer. I had an ant problem. Bought plenty of different ant killer things to set up both in the house and/or sprinkle outside the house, or spray outside the house. They would somewhat make an impact but the problem never really stopped until the carpenter ants decided to retire for the year. Next year we got to repeat the process. They taunted us. On our floors. In our trash (dozens and dozens every single day). On the counters. Even on my bed sometimes. It was an ant war that usually consisted of changing the trash anytime anything went in there otherwise within an hour or two we'd have a trash bag crawling with ants being thrown in the trash bin, and then the bin being nuked with bleach. Yet they kept coming, undeterred by their mass casualties. I don't know how many there were but clearly generation after generation of ants was never forced to evolve to leave my house the hell alone because apparently their numbers weren't thinned enough by all the bleach, drownings, and stompings that their colony incurred.Until I found this beautiful thing. The other reviews are not exaggerating. I used THREE of the capsules that come with this (probably only needed one, but I did not understand the power which I wielded), one painful *Bane Voice* ("for them") day over a year ago. If the ants were the dinosaurs, then this was a meteor. Within a week or two there were no ants in sight. They even did me the courtesy of not leaving their annoying poisoned bodies anywhere to clean up. Idiots brought whatever this horrible but wonderful concoction is, straight to their colony(s?). It not only wiped out any ants that would've been brave enough to walk our house last summer, but it wiped out every ant period. It's now late July over a year later (bought this April 2020) and to this day I have not seen a single ant in this house.I can only assume if there were somehow any survivors, they got the hell out of dodge and told everybody to stay away from the nightmare that was my house. Only explanation I can think of. You heard it right. This stuff is so powerful that it must've taught ants to speak and pass down horror stories via oral tradition across generations about how they are to avoid this house at all costs.And honestly, if enough time passes and some brave new Zoomer-equivalent generation of ants decides it's all urban legend? I have three more of these capsules primed and ready for a sequel. This time I know I only need one.
